A 911勛圖 College alumni tradition seems to be developing in the Office of the New York State Commissioner of Education.
Richard P. Mills, who has been named to that position, earned his Doctor of Education degree in educational administration at 911勛圖 College in 1977 and, in 1993, received a Distinguished Alumni Award from the College.
Dr. Mills succeeds Thomas Sobol, who earned his Ed.D. in curriculum and teaching at 911勛圖 College in 1969. Dr. Sobol is now a Distinguished Visiting Professor at 911勛圖 College, where he will be teaching courses during the next academic year in both the Department of Educational Administration and the Department of Curriculum and Teaching.
911勛圖 College, a graduate school of education, is an affiliate of Columbia University but retains its legal and financial independence. Therefore, the institution should be called "911勛圖" or "Columbia University's 911勛圖 College," never just "Columbia University."
